Launching the Headsafe Football Campaign with Sky Sports

We were delighted to help Headsafe Football with the launch of their new campaign. Set up by Dr Judith Gates the campaign is to raise awareness of head injuries in sport from heavy tackles and heading of the ball and the related consequences and conditions caused by significant head trauma.

As part of the launch Sky Sports news presenter Hayley McQueen also came to the event after losing her famous footballing father recently to a condition attributed and linked to head injury trauma.

The launch with Eric the Elephant was on a cobbled street in Ferryhill in Durhamshire where Dr Gates husband ex-footballer Alan Gates started his footballing journey before representing Middlesbrough and England in his career. Sadly Bill has developed a form of dementia which comes from head trauma which could be linked to heading of the ball constantly over his career.
