Nova Inflatables Supports Red Bull at Frankfurt Exhibition with Bespoke Inflatable Engineering
Nova Inflatables was proud to collaborate with Red Bull on a striking exhibition at PMW Expo in Cologne, Germany, delivering a highly engineered replica inflatable hot air balloon to support Red Bull’s iconic Flying BMX track.
This ambitious project brought together multiple specialist teams, with Red Bull Advanced Technologies responsible for designing and building both the original full-scale Flying BMX track and the exhibition replica. Nova Inflatables was commissioned to design and manufacture a bespoke inflatable solution that accurately replicated the visual form of the Red Bull hot air balloon while performing a critical structural role within the installation.
Our inflatable balloon was engineered to be suspended within the exhibition space and carry the weight of the replica BMX track, while still maintaining the precise shape, proportions, and visual integrity of a real hot air balloon envelope. Achieving this required close collaboration during the design and testing phases, ensuring the inflatable integrated seamlessly with the rigid track structure without distortion or loss of form.
Using specialist materials, internal load-bearing systems, and advanced fabrication techniques, Nova delivered a solution that combined strength, stability, and aesthetic accuracy. The finished installation became a dramatic centrepiece of the Frankfurt exhibition, perfectly capturing the innovation and spectacle associated with Red Bull’s Flying BMX project.
